To advocate NOT thinking for one's self is the equivalent of saying we should be blind, and just let someone else lead us around. If a person doesn't do his/her own thinking, that person is robbing him/herself of being able to determine what is true or not. If thinking independently and freely is so bad, how can any believer trust their OWN thoughts? They use their own minds in deciding for themselves that they should accept Jesus, that we should believe in God and in truth of the Bible. How can they trust their minds when it comes to those things?: We all do our own thinking; that is unavoidable. It's just a question of whether we think rationally and intelligently.

And to not question what we are taught, is to shirk the obligation of making a serious, courageous attempt to find out what is really worth believing and what is not.
