LINK Medical marijuana users are 'dangerous criminals,' Biden admin says

Well. So here's an unforseen development. 🤔

The law and order crowd in Florida has decided to take on declassifying marijuana. 😳 Yep. They think marijuana should no longer be a Class A drug. (OK. Good on them.) 👌

But wait!!!!! This isn't because it's the right thing to do. It's because if you live in Florida and you use medical marijuana, you can't legally possess a firearm.

🤣🤣🤣 Hilarious! They've just opened the door for marijuana declassification to be 100% linked to the 2nd Amendment.

I have a feeling they didn't think this through. 🤣

The White House has responded.

Nope. Too bad for you. People high on pot, whether medical or not, shouldn't have access to firearms. 🤭🤭🤭

Let the show begin. Every far right state without medical marijuana is going to have to pick a side. You either agree with the WH or you side with Florida.

(This is delicious. The in-fighting is going to be so much fun to witness.) 👍

Hey there, I just stumbled upon this post and had to chime in. 😂 It's absolutely ridiculous that medical marijuana users are being labeled as ""dangerous criminals"" by the Biden administration. And now, Florida wants to declassify marijuana just so medical users can legally possess firearms? 🤔 Talk about picking a side. I really hope the government comes to its senses about medical marijuana use. It's ridiculous to label people as criminals just because they use it for their health. Keep fighting the good fight, everyone! Have any of you tried the Gelato 41 Exotic Hybrid Premium THC-A Flower from Holy Smokes store? It's supposed to have some amazing flavors, and I'm glad we can still try it, although it has some THC.

Who in the Biden administration said that?

Another instance of Republicans law and order rhetoric meeting the reality of Republican behavior.

I like it the way it is here in California, you can own a gun if you want too and still get high on marijuana and you don't have to lie and claim it's for medical reasons.
I do it for medical reasons, my medical reason is that I'm happier high then not high.

We started it,...Oregon, land of Weed. Although "Weed" is a town at the top of the mountain crossing the boarder, traveling south into California.

Sadly, if the Feds decided to enforce Federal law, anyone using marijuana, legal or not, would be committing Federal crimes if a firearm is possessed.

That's why everyone tried to get Obama to do what he ran on and deschedule pot. The Federal law supercedes any states' laws. 🙄🙄🙄 They need to just do it already. FFS.

Me too!

I'm in favor of anything that keeps guns out of people's hands. And maybe Biden needs to evolve on the issue of marijuana, the way Obama evolved on the issue of same-sex marriage.

Well, if they consider medical marijuana to be an intoxicant? Isn't alcohol a much more dangerous intoxicant? Shouldn't the government make it illegal to own a gun for the people who drink booze, beer or wine?

I think they determined that prohibition didn't work out so well with alcohol, so they've been trying all other substances since. Gotta keep all these low enforcement personnel employed and the jails and prisons full. It's big money.

@SeaGreenEyez . Cannabis is finally getting the respect it needs as a good herbal cure for many things. The problem now is that as the prohibition laws are repealed the price for weed has skyrocketed. There more reason to grow your own than price, the growers might use poisons for controlling insects or they might try to enhance it with a more dangerous drug like fentanyl.

@OldGoat43 I thought one of the advantages of legalizing weed was the control of how it is grown. Oklahoma growers have all kinds of inspections and are not allowed to use any pesticides.

@Lorajay . That's a good measure of how safe weed should be grown. It's organic without having to label it organic.

As a medical marijuana user, I have to say that I would be way more dangerous with a gun when I am sober than when I am stoned. But the truth is I stay away from all heavy equipment when I am medicated. I use the stuff to get to sleep at night because without it my chronic pain would keep me awake all night. I Should know, but I don't know if I am allowed to own a gun in my state. I really don't care either because I do not intend to ever own one.

PS the popcorn looks good. I guess I have the munchies.

The marijuana law that prohibits gun ownership if a user of marijuana is a Federal Law, thus the Florida conundrum. States cannot legally override the Federal firearm laws, regardless of their drug policy. Anyone in the country using marijuana, legally or not, and owning a firearm is breaking Federal Law. On the application for buying a firearm, the question is asked and if you lie and say you are not using drugs, they can bust you on that as well. Is it enforced? I would guess not unless it ties in with other violations, but it is there until the US Congress passes a bill decriminalizing pot. And Republicans have shown no interest in doing that to this point.

@Barnie2years I took a little look at the law in my state and what I found was that there are no state restrictions on medical marijuana users owning guns here. As far as I know, the feds do not recognize my right to use it anyway.

@MyTVC15 Again, Federal Law trumps State law when it comes to firearms. To buy a gun, you fill out a Federal Form (and in Pennsylvania a State Form) with a bunch of questions about arrests, mental issues and drugs. The ATF regulates all gun sales. States don't need to have their own restrictions in place, because the Fed has it covered. Same reason banks under FDIC regulations can't legally accept money from drug transactions even when the states have legalized marijuana. They can find work arounds or risk breaking the Federal Law, but the US Congress would have to change the laws in place for it to be actually legal.

@MyTVC15 Oh!!! The Feds are well aware you've got a medical card. The DEA spends 24/7/365 monitoring every single substance we are prescribed. When, where, how much and who prescribed it and where, and where you picked it up. The know where you live and who lives with you and next doot to you.

I can assure you, if they were to choose to roll up into your state and into your driveway with a warrant, they're coming in. And if there's a gun? You're going to jail.

Mind you, the likelihood of that is slim, but should they wish to do so, there'd be nothing you could do to stop them until AFTER you're broke from attorney fees and out of Federal prison. 🙄

@SeaGreenEyez I'm not worried. I don't have a gun and I don't want a gun. Not a problem here.

There should be a distinction made between indica and sativa. Indica users are prolly safe with guns; first, they won't want to go anywhere; then they'll fall asleep. 😂

Let's say theres 3 totally identical people. You are standing in a neighborhood where you feel safe. One person approaches with a gun strapped on, one approaches with no gun, and one approaches with a gun strapped on and in possession of marijuana. Who do you feel most comfortable approaching you and why?

Personally I'd be most comfortable with the person with no gun, followed by the pot head with a gun and lastly the sober person with a gun.

Is the guy without a gun a pot smoker?

Alcohol use is contributing far more to gun accidents, assaults and killings than marijuana, and yet you can drink as much as you want and go out and buy a gun. You can be an alcoholic and legally buy a firearm, no problem. Like so many other things, it is not based on factual or logical information.

@SeaGreenEyez Just for you we'll switch it up to 4 identical people. One without a gun and pot and one without a gun and with pot.
