Seriously? Brits are impoverished? I could see if we were talking third world country here but England? It ruled the oceans! I’ve been there twice and stayed in nicer hotels and went to good restaurants and rarely had a decent meal.
I ordered a bread pudding for dessert at one nicer restaurant and it came out as a tasteless, gelatinous mess. No cinnamon or vanilla, or anything. I asked the waitress if she could bring me some spices or something else. The chef came out instead and we got into quite an argument. Long story short, I ended up with a free meal with no dessert.
@Killtheskyfairy Most Brits are not impoverished now, but England is much more prosperous now than when their ethnic dishes were developed. The point is that poor quality food choices continue as a matter of ethnic loyalty.
