Chucho Valdes, Cuban jazz pianist, "Son No. 1" He slips in and out of some avant-garde riffs - I think because he simply can't hold back the creative energy - but always comes back to the groove.

One of my favorite's in the world of jazz, the Esbjorn Svensson Trio, better know as EST. Sadly, the band leader died in a diving accident some years ago.

I saw this lady, Reem Kelani, at last year's Cambridge Jazz Festival. Being a few metres away I experienced the full power. There does not seem to be a recording of that performance but I hope this one from 10 years ago will please somebody. ...
