Have a Happy Sunday Folks
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 10, 2018:
Well, my Sunday has been HOT so far, however, not the good kind. Typical summer in Nebraska, HO HUM. Hot and humid.
This just crossed my FB page and I thought that I'd share it.

I'd just tell them the profits from their cake were going to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, PFLAG, and Freedom From Religion Foundation. That would scare them out of the store faster than anything.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I was concerned I might be sacked, I've been struggling with my job for a long time. Now it is not going to kill me financially to be unemployed. So I made a list of everything I want to do if I end up with some unexpected free time. I keep it in my pocket and pull it out when the stress levels rise. My change of attitude and being able to relax a bit has actually helped me to do my job better. So now I'm thinking I likely won't be let go, and I'm kinda sorta disappointed. OTOH, health insurance so I will stay employed until I have other options for health care.
Life just handed me lemonade. Not sure what to do now.

All I can tell you is no one can judge the pain of another. I cannot imagine how much pain he was in to have risked hurting his child so much. Even in my darkest hours when I cried out to the gods that are not there, I remembered my kids and how I I could not inflict that pain on them. That is my story, yours and his are different. But please, in that dark night when you have no more strength to go on, please summon up that last ounce and call someone. I know that storms and dark nights pass eventually, yours will too, but sometimes you need to lean on someone else for a bit.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 8, 2018:
I sent three kids to bible camps while they were children. Two have grown up to be Atheists, and the youngest wants to stay on her dad's good side. The other activities at camp might make up for the religion. However, let her know what to expect, and it depends on the denomination. Is this a fundamentalist church or a more liberal denomination? The fundamentalists will try to scare god into them. The more liberal churches will make sure they have a good time and encourage them to believe.

I struggle with sleep issues. My job is stressful and I tend to push the envelope with going to bed. I get involved with something and lose track of time. (this site is way too hard to turn off) So, today I had a great day at work, I'm all caught up. Such a relief. I'm actually (in theory) going to bed soon. I'm going to wrestle down the cats and trim their nails (I do it in bed, I wrap them in the blankets.) And then I'm going to take some stuff to relax and hope that I sleep til the sun is full up tomorrow.

It comes down to choice. Babies should be wanted, so someone who doesn't want or is ambivalent should not be making babies. Babies are an incredible time and money sponge. She is the best auntie ever, and she is going to be taking care of her parents as we age. She is busy with her career, she is a volunteer with CASA, she is incredible. Do you see it as child abuse forcing kids to go to Church when they are clearly sick?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 5, 2018:
It is simply stupid to take a sick child anywhere, except for urgent care or other medical facility. I don't want your sick kid's germs, keep the little germ factory at home and stop spreading the illnesses. I think parents have a choice of where their children should go and if they decide that church is their choice that is what parents do. That also begs the question of how old is that child? However, it does fall under the aegis of parenthood, my house my rules. The part about the sick child I take exception to. Sick kids belong at home. No one, in or out of church wants to deal with your little germ factory's bugs.
