OpposingOpposum comments on Jul 5, 2018:
Yeah. We rely on reading people and hide behind polite-ese far too much IMO. Open communication is a skill that has to be learned and it can be scary to lay out who you are warts and all. I think it makes for much better relationships and mental health.

Toootally. We're seeing significant temperature increases, more extreme weather events more often and in more places plus numerous worrisome ecological trends that were all predicted by these theories but it's tooootally invalid. Don the Con is simply a symptom of what we have become. We Americans need to take a good hard look at ourselves and the silly propoganda we've been lapping up. Don't be lazy, do your civic duty and research and support people for office who truly represent you. If they get bought by corps, kick em out. Boycott the large corporations and demand they be removed from our political system. Vote, stay informed and get out there in the streets and agitate for what is right.

Proceed to enjoy said community and plot our takeover of the planet with semi yearly vacations to great/interesting/ educational places. Have one or two more low rent communities to make life easier on working class people who happen not to be agnostic/atheist too:) as you can tell I haven't given this idea much consideration.

OpposingOpposum comments on Jul 3, 2018:
There is a strange and consistent reaction when people are told of others traumas. Always, it seems, disbelief comes first. I suppose those of us who don't experience the worst the world has to offer don't want to believe it is that bad. I do wish people would recognise that bias when it comes up though. It's always painful to hear that someone has to "prove" their traumas every time they're revealed to a new person.

Jahi McMath, Who Doctors Declared Brain Dead 5 Years Ago Sparking Court Battle with Her Mom, Dies
OpposingOpposum comments on Jun 29, 2018:
Where do you get child abuse? She suffered brain death from a botched tonsilectomy. We get it. You don't like kids and think that poor people shouldn't be allowed to breed. Making this sound as though the child was on life support because of abuse is even farther beyond the pale, however. Perhaps you meant keeping her on life support was abuse but if you accept the premise that the child was entirely brain dead, keeping her body alive wouldn't have affected her at all because there would be no conciousness to experience pain or suffering. Somehow I feel like this is just another rant about how expensive and useless poor people are.

Hrmm. There's a lot. I grew up in an extremely dysfunctional extended family. Because of who my parents were I was sheilded from the worst of it but I know intimately the evil that regular people can do and still walk around like nothing happened. My parents illnesses and passing changed me and having children of my own changed me more. I had a really bad health scare at the end of my last pregnancy that really brought home my own mortality. Other than that I have met some amazing and outrageous people along the way and had some adventures of my own. It all shaped me, I think.
