I have few "life long" friends as my home life was not great and then I moved right after HS, and kept moving. I haven't lost any true "friends" because of Trump, but I know some connections from FB have been lost due to my strong opposition to the orange one. You can't knock sense into anyone unless they are ready to make changes. One of the smartest people I've known is actually my ex. His critical thinking skills deteriorated the more he listened to Fox news. I might not have had to divorce him if we could have kept him away from Fox.
